My 7 DAYS Active: Robin Bery

At 7 DAYS Active, we believe an active life is about more than movement — it’s a mindset. Rooted in our core values of BODYMIND, and SOUL, we’re launching “My 7 DAYS Active” — a new monthly series on our social platforms.

We invite our community to share how they stay active throughout the week — from workouts to moments of mindfulness. It’s all about living with intention, balance, and energy, every day.

What is your go-to workout/activity?

It depends on the mood. Primarily, it’s a workout in the gym. When a lot is happening and it’s a busy work period, nothing hits better than cardio or a boxing training. But weight lifting and high intensity workouts play a big role for me as well, as they keep me focused and motivated.

What does your active week look like?

All the weeks are active for me, no matter if it’s a regular working week, I’m travelling, or I’m out of the city. The gym is usually a big part of it, but it can also be a long walk, a bike ride through the city, or simply finding a way to move when I have some time between things.

I don’t really see it as something I have to plan too strictly. It’s more about making sure movement is part of my week, wherever I am.

How do you stay motivated to keep
moving every day?

As mentioned above, I know that keep moving every day makes me feel good, both physically and mentally. So it’s pretty easy for me to stay motivated, as at my age, I’ve learned that this is very much needed. And of course, some days I need to push myself a little to go, but it pays off. Some days it’s a proper workout, other days it can simply be getting outside, going for a walk, or jumping on my bike. And sometimes it’s just what helps me get through those days when we feel the blues…

What role does being active play in your overall well-being?

No matter if it’s a planned workout or just giving myself some movement, it’s very important. We are lucky to live in a city where everyone bikes, and I utilise it to the max. Even on a rest day, if I just want to sit in a café and do some work or meet with friends, I prefer to pick a spot where getting there comes with a bike ride.

Do you prefer to work out alone or together with others—and why?

I do prefer to work out alone. To zone out, with my favourite playlists, and just focus on myself. Listening to my body and understanding it.

While I have my own routines, sometimes the important part is also the ‘pre workout’. Even though I might have planned a specific type of workout, understanding my body tells me that, for example, I should skip that one and do the other one instead. And working out alone makes it easier to change the plan, without having to follow someone else’s routine or agreed session.

What is your favorite place to be active?

It’s definitely a gym for me. Or in general, a place with some tools available where I can get things done, and rather quickly. When travelling, if there is no gym, I like to seek out outdoor places where you can work out, or just prioritise long walks with some exercises here and there inside, in a room.

How do you balance being active with rest and recovery during the week?

By now, luckily, I know that recovery is as important as the workout. And while I really enjoy working out a lot, I do my best to implement as many recovery days as needed.

And if I plan to work out and something gets in the way, I don’t stress about it. I work out for myself, and I am not a professional sportsman, so if instead of one recovery day there are two, that’s okay. I come back the day after, or whenever the time and situation allows.
