My 7 DAYS Active: Freyja Ellingsdóttir

At 7 DAYS Active, we believe an active life is about more than movement — it’s a mindset. Rooted in our core values of BODYMIND, and SOUL, we’re launching “My 7 DAYS Active” — a new monthly series on our social platforms.

We invite our community to share how they stay active throughout the week — from workouts to moments of mindfulness. It’s all about living with intention, balance, and energy, every day.

What is your go-to workout/activity?

Running, for sure. I love being outside, getting some fresh air and having that dedicated headspace in my day. It’s probably my favorite way to clear my head while still feeling like I’ve done something good for myself.

What does your active week look like?

I try to mix running with hot Pilates and yoga. I’m a flight attendant, so my body needs both the active effort and the recovery. I like having a routine, but I also try to listen to what my body actually needs that day.

How do you stay motivated to keep moving every day?

I think about the life I want and what it actually takes to get there. Other people motivate me a lot too - there's a saying I really like: "If you're willing to work for others, why aren't you willing to work for yourself?" That one really sits with me.

What role does being active play in your overall well-being?

Finding my feet in the active world has given me some of my favorite memories - crossing the finish line of a marathon next to my mum being one of them. But it’s also become a really important part of my everyday life. When I’m feeling low, stressed or just a bit off, moving my body and getting outside genuinely helps me feel like myself again.

Do you prefer to work out alone or together with others—and why?

I love a mix of both. Running gives me great solo time to clear my head, but working out with other people brings a completely different kind of energy. Whether it’s friends, family or a group of people I’ve never met before, I love that extra motivation you get from doing something together.

What is your favorite place to be active?

It’s a tie between being outdoors for a run and being in a studio. I love the freedom and headspace of running outside, but I also really enjoy the energy of a good studio class. There’s something about being surrounded by people who are all there to work hard, especially when you have an instructor who genuinely loves what they do. I also appreciate a workout that is effective and time efficient.

How do you balance being active with rest and recovery during the week?

I try to prioritise recovery just as much as my workouts. On lower-energy days, I’ll focus on slower, gentler movement - usually a long walk, some yoga or a sauna session. I love going to Sauna Gus to unwind. I’ve realised that listening to my body is a much better strategy than trying to force a workout when I’m not feeling it.
