My 7 DAYS active: Emilie Bloch

At 7 DAYS Active, we believe an active life is about more than movement — it’s a mindset. Rooted in our core values of BODYMIND, and SOUL, we’re launching “My 7 DAYS Active” — a new monthly series on our social platforms.

We invite our community to share how they stay active throughout the week — from workouts to moments of mindfulness. It’s all about living with intention, balance, and energy, every day.

This month we have asked consultant, Emilie Bloch, about everything from her workout routine to how she stays balanced.

What does your active week look like?

I really like mixing it up! I’m starting to train for my first triathlon race after Christmas, so variety is also becoming necessary. At the same time, I’m a big routine person, so it’s always a balance between keeping things structured and making space to try new things.

In a typical week, I try schedule two strength sessions, one to two mobility or “experimental” sessions, three runs, one to two bike sessions, and now at least one swim. I don’t always hit every session but planning them ahead definitely helps. The key for me is to let it be a flexible plan, where I can adjust ambition and adapts to how my body and mind are feeling, and how my schedule is looking.

I prioritize training quite high, but I don’t want it to control my life. It’s a constant balancing act. Luckily, I love it, which makes everything a little easier.

What is your go-to workout/activity?

My all-time favorite activity is running. I love the freedom it gives me, the sense of empowerment, and the community around it. I’m currently recovering from an overuse injury, so my running is a bit limited, which means I’m spending more time on my second favorite: cycling. Preferably outdoors, but on a rainy day a good, intense spinning session works just as well.

How do you stay motivated to keep moving every day?

For me, it’s simple: I truly love it. I love doing it, and I love how it makes me feel.
That doesn’t mean I’m always motivated, though. On the tougher days, I lean on
the training communities around the city (and online), and I remind myself how
much movement gives me. I’ve never regretted a workout — and that pretty much sums up why I keep showing up. It’s one of the ways I take care of myself and
give myself the intentional space to prioritize me.

What role does being active play in your overall well-being?

Being active is honestly what keeps me sane on busy days, and it’s one of my biggest sources of self-empowerment. If you had asked me six years ago, I never would have imagined this would be such a big part of my life. I don’t come from an athletic background, so this lifestyle is something I built in my mid-to-late twenties from scratch.

What drove me from day one was simply how it made me feel. Running and training have completely changed the way I talk to, think about, and treat my body. It’s given me a deeper appreciation for everything it allows me to do (‘cause how wild is it that my body can transport me 42.2 km on a random Sunday?!).

Do you prefer to work out alone or together with others—and why?

It really depends on the day. I absolutely love being part of active communities and often seek out company for workouts. But sometimes, training becomes my little pocket of solitude — my space to be with my own thoughts — and that feels special and important too.

What is your favorite place to be active?

Definitely outdoors! And when I’m not outside, I love boutique fitness spaces. Outdoors is always best, but the intention you feel behind concept fitness spaces also inspires me a lot.

How do you balance being active with rest and recovery during the week?

Honestly, this is something I still work on. Most of the time I just want to go, go, go. But I also know that’s neither sustainable nor productive. Slowing down can be hard when moving is what you enjoy most, but I’m getting better at embracing recovery, too.

I try to take at least one rest day a week with no planned workout, and I’ve learned to prioritize sleep. Sauna sessions and good food are also at the top of my recovery list. I’m a big comfort person who loves a night on the couch with a movie and a delicious meal, so that definitely helps, but I still need the
occasional reminder to slow down.
